Most of our families adopt healthy newborn babies in less than one year. If you are open to adopting an older child out of the foster care system, we can help you too. Our Florida domestic home studies are valid in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. We work with a network of adoption agencies, attorneys and adoption consultants.

Anyone adopting internationally will need a Hague Accredited primary provider (adoption agency). If you do not have one, we can provide recommendations! Since our agency does not place children from other countries, we are Hague exempt. We will sign a contract with your Hague Accredited adoption agency, and they will review your Florida international home study prior to submission to United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.

We also help families complete relative adoptions from Jamaica.

Since Sunshine State Adoption and Home Study Services is not for profit and state licensed, we can complete a domestic home study so you can adopt an older child from the foster care system. If you have not completed foster care training through the state, we can refer you to a private trainer. Most children available for adoption in the foster care system are 12 or older and a part of a sibling group.

Just as the State of Florida requires an approved home study to place an adoptive child with their forever family, the State also requires a series of follow-up visits by the initial home study provider/social worker once the adoption placement has occurred. The purpose of these post placement visits is to assure that the adoptive child and parents are both adapting well to their new environment. As adoptive parents ourselves, our social workers serve as a valuable post placement resource for the family.
